Our Pastor Dr. Jim Parker

 Our founding pastor at Back to the Word Church is Dr. Jim Parker. Jim earned his Doctoral Degree in Theology (ThD) from Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, Georgia where he graduated Summa Cum Laude at the top of his class. His Doctorial Dissertation, which is entitled Predestined to Choose, examined the aspects of Predestination and Free Choice and how these concepts relate to personal faith and to corporate religious beliefs. Jim is ordained through the Evangelical Church Alliance (ECA) in Bradley, IL which has been ordaining God’s servants since 1887.  Jim, was Licensed in 2006 and he was Ordained in 2007 at the ECA’s National Convention in Branson, MO.

 Pastor Jim has spent countless hours studying Hebraic customs and traditions as well as the history of the times in which the Bible was written. He uses this information to help people more fully understand the Bible and its teachings.  He strongly believes in teaching God’s word from a Hebraic perspective just as the Old Testament prophets did, just as the Apostle Paul did, and just as Jesus (Yeshua) Himself did. Pastor Jim states: “By understanding the Hebraic customs and traditions, things like the Bride of Christ, the Wedding Supper of the Lamb, I Go to Prepare a Place for You, or No one Knows the Day or the Hour are much more fully understood and your understanding and appreciation of God only grows deeper.” 

Pastor Jim said he was inspired to choose the name “Back to the Word Church” because as he puts it: “We all must get back to worshiping God the way God intended us to, in spirit and in truth.  We can best do this by teaching the whole Bible, from Genesis through Revelation and by stripping away all the man-made traditions and doctrines that God never ordained or intended.”   

He said the goal of the church should be to “Grow in Faith and not in Religion”. Pastor Jim prefers a teaching style rather than a preaching style and he strongly believes in equipping others to share their faith with anyone and everyone who will hear the Good News.
